This exceptional green tea originates from the prestigious Shifeng (Lion Peak) area within the West Lake Longjing region of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Shifeng is widely regarded as the most premium terroir for Longjing tea, where high-altitude mist, mineral-rich soil, and optimal sun exposure create leaves of unmatched tenderness and aroma. The 2026 Pre-Qingming harvest captures the first and finest spring buds, hand-plucked before the Qingming Festival when each tender shoot is at its peak vitality.
The tea is crafted using traditional hand-firing techniques passed down through generations of Shifeng masters. The process begins with gentle withering to reduce moisture, followed by the signature "sha qing" (kill-green) in iron woks over precise heat. Skilled tea masters use their bare hands to press, lift, and shape the leaves—a technique known as "huí chǎo" (return panning)—repeated multiple times to achieve the flat, sword-like form and lock in the tea's vibrant character. This labor-intensive process requires years of training, as even slight variations in temperature or pressure affect the final quality. The result is a tea with a distinctive "wok aroma" (chǎo xiāng) that sets hand-fired Longjing apart from machine-processed versions.
The dry leaves display a flat, smooth appearance with a jade-green color and a subtle chestnut fragrance. When brewed, it yields a pale green liquor with brilliant clarity. The aroma is delicate and layered—a harmonious blend of roasted chestnut, tender spring vegetation, and a subtle floral sweetness with hints of fresh bean. The taste is exceptionally smooth and mellow, offering a clean, sweet flavor that lingers gently on the palate with no bitterness—the hallmark of authentic Shifeng Longjing.
