The "Ruyi" is a decorative pattern commonly seen in traditional Chinese craftsmanship and architectural decoration. The Ruyi pattern typically consists of curved lines, resembling clouds or waves, symbolizing the fulfillment of wishes or "everything as desired." This design represents auspiciousness and good wishes, often used on objects, furniture, clothing, and architectural components to enhance beauty and convey blessings.
This teapot features Ruyi-shaped handles on both sides, making it more convenient than traditional Gaiwan (covered bowl) designs, as it prevents scalding and slipping. The teapot also has an eagle's beak spout with filter holes, ensuring a smoother water flow. The overall design combines the advantages of both a Gaiwan and a teapot, making it a very practical and convenient choice for brewing tea.
The teapot and cup are made with an ash-glazed body, with a celadon blue color that has a slight gray hue, showcasing another form of elegance characteristic of Ru ware.
