The production of Longquan celadon began more than 1,700 years ago and reached its peak during the Song Dynasty. It is one of the most historically significant kilns for celadon in both Chinese and world ceramic history, known for having the longest production period, the widest distribution of kiln sites, the highest quality standards, and the largest scale of production and export. celadon comes in a variety of shades from light to dark, including plum green, powder green, bean green, and rice yellow.
Longquan celadon is characterized by its hard, light green to dark green body and thin, transparent glaze, famed for its "emerald green that appears to drip and a texture as smooth as jade." Its primary aesthetic is simplicity, resembling jade, with most pieces being plain, avoiding surface painting. Another notable feature is the "jumping knife" technique, where knife marks are carved into the body of the piece, breaking the flatness of the surface. This creates a more three-dimensional, abstract effect, giving the ceramics a sense of vitality compared to traditional painted designs.
Waves patterns is carved inside the cup, a traditional pattern of Chinese ceramics , adding a retro looks of the cup.
