Ru ware tripod Zun anciently called Lian (奁), was an exquisite case used to store jewelry and other small items. The original Ru ware tripod Zun (1086AD-1106AD) replicates the form of Han Dynasty bronze vessels. It features a straight mouth, cylindrical body, and flat base, with mouth and foot of similar diameter. Two raised string patterns adorn the exterior near the mouth and foot respectively, while three additional string patterns decorate the mid-body. The piece stands on three beast-shaped feet. The exterior base shows five sesame seed-sized pin marks from the firing process. Both interior and exterior are fully coated in a soft sky-blue glaze with a lustrous, moist appearance.

Ru ware tripod Zuns are among the most celebrated porcelain works from the Ru kilns. Only two examples survive: one housed in the Beijing Palace Museum, and the other in the British Museum's Percival David Foundation in London. The Palace Museum's specimen is renowned for its exceptionally refined glaze quality.

This reproduction is based on the Beijing Palace Museum's original, but differs in being entirely crackle-free (most Ru ware exhibits crackling, making crackle-free pieces particularly rare). The Zun boasts a soft, satin-like glaze, with areas of thinner glaze along the string patterns and mouth rim revealing the faint "incense ash" clay body beneath. Whether displayed as an art object in a tea room or used as a tea basin on the tea table, this piece is a visually captivating work of art that never fails to delight the eye.
