Hand-formed from iron-rich stoneware clay, this 1-of-1 Wood-Fired Teapot embodies a raw, unglazed aesthetic rooted in traditional scholar studio culture. The round, grounded belly is decorated with hand-carved Cursive Calligraphy (Cao Shu) that wraps around the vessel, catching natural ash melt and dark toasted carbon marks directly from the kiln fire.
As the open flame swept through the wood kiln, the high iron content in the clay reacted to produce a warm terracotta-red surface with matte metallic sheen and dark charcoal embers near the handle and spout base. Designed with a clean, straight spout for swift, non-drip pours, a comfortable loop handle, and an arched bridge lid knob tied with a subtle beaded cord, this compact 100ml pot feels heavy and reassuring in the palm. Its porous unglazed interior naturally rounds out harsh water notes and retains heat exceptionally well—making it a dedicated companion for Gongfu steeps of aged Pu-erhs, roasted Oolongs, or Cliff Teas.
