This exceptional green tea originates from the renowned Dongting Mountain region of Taihu Lake, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province—the birthplace of authentic Bi Luo Chun. The unique lakeside microclimate, fertile soil, abundant mist, and surrounding fruit orchards create an ideal environment for producing one of China's most celebrated green teas. The 2026 Pre-Qingming harvest features the season's earliest tender buds and young leaves, hand-picked before the Qingming Festival when their freshness, sweetness, and aromatic complexity reach their peak.
Bi Luo Chun is traditionally crafted entirely by hand using time-honored techniques passed down through generations of tea masters. After careful withering, the leaves undergo the classic "sha qing" (kill-green) process in heated iron woks to preserve their vibrant green color and fresh aroma. The leaves are then repeatedly rolled and gently twisted by hand while being continuously heated, gradually forming the tea's signature tight, spiral shape that resembles tiny green snails—hence the name "Bi Luo Chun," meaning "Green Snail Spring." This highly skilled process demands precise control of temperature, timing, and pressure to preserve the tea's delicate buds while developing its rich fragrance and silky texture.
The dry leaves are slender, tightly curled, and covered with fine silvery-white down, displaying a vibrant emerald-green color. Once brewed, the tea produces a crystal-clear pale green liquor with remarkable brightness. Its aroma is exceptionally elegant and layered, combining fresh orchid blossoms, tender spring greens, sweet fruit notes, and subtle floral honey accents—a distinctive characteristic influenced by the surrounding peach, plum, and apricot orchards. The taste is smooth, fresh, and naturally sweet, offering a mellow body with lingering floral fragrance and a refreshing finish free from bitterness.
