This teapot is crafted from Da Hong Pao original mineral clay, one of the more distinctive materials in the Yixing Zisha spectrum. Named after the famous Wuyi rock tea, Da Hong Pao clay is prized for its warm, deep red hue and relatively high iron content . Sourced from the Huanglong Mountain mining region, this clay is less common than standard Zini or Zhuni, making teapots made from it less frequently encountered.

At 100ml capacity, this teapot is designed for solo tea sessions. One infusion, one cup, no waste, no cooling between pours.

The teapot is fully handmade in Yixing using traditional techniques. Using the original mineral clay body itself as pigment, the artisan has hand-painted a lotus motif directly onto the teapot's surface. This technique—painting with refined clay slip—allows the lotus to emerge in subtle contrast against the deeper red-brown Da Hong Pao ground.

The teapot works well with:

Wuyi rock teas (Yancha) – concentrated flavor benefits from small volume

Phoenix oolong (Dancong) – aromatic intensity is preserved without dilution

Aged pu-erh – efficient extraction in small increments

Care and Seasoning

As with all Yixing Zisha, this teapot should be dedicated to one type of tea. The 100ml size makes this practical: small volumes require less tea to season, and you can reasonably own several small pots for different tea categories.

First use: Rinse with boiling water. No boiling or other preparation needed.

Daily care: Rinse with warm water after brewing. Leave the lid off to dry completely. Never use soap on the unglazed interior.

Over time: The interior will darken as tea oils build. The exterior will develop a soft shine from handling.
