Jingdezhen is renowned worldwide for its underglaze blue-and-white porcelain, a classic representative of Chinese ceramics. The blue-and-white technique involves painting patterns with cobalt oxide on the ceramic body, covering it with a transparent glaze, and then firing it at high temperatures. After firing, the cobalt transforms into a beautiful blue hue. Depending on the cobalt materials and techniques used in different periods, the resulting blues vary—some appear deep blue-purple, others soft and elegant, while some exhibit grayish-blue tones.
Blue-and-white porcelain demands exceptional painting skills from the artists. This blue-and-white gaiwan features pine, bamboo, and plum patterns hand-painted by a renowned Jingdezhen artist, reflecting a classical and elegant style.
Designed in the horseshoe shape, the gaiwan boasts standardized and graceful lines. Its milky-white matte glaze adds a touch of vintage charm, enhancing its timeless appeal.
