Originating from the soul of the Five Great Kilns of the Song Dynasty and born from the fires of the ancient town of Shenhou, Henan, Jun ware embodies the principle of "one color enters the kiln; ten thousand hues emerge." It paints without a brush, carves without a tool—its spirit forged solely by the union of clay, flame, and atmosphere. Now, this lineage of kiln fire is condensed into the form of the Qinquan (a type of weight scale used in Qin dynasty)—more than a teapot, it is an Eastern sense of weight and measure held in the palm.

Flowing Colors, Solidified Poetry

Across its body, purple flows like sunset melting into glaze, red resembles molten gold traversing jade, and blue spills like an inverted galaxy. This is not applied pigmentation but the kiln's breath at 1300°C, the natural movement of copper and iron minerals at extreme heat. Every drift of glaze is decided by the fire, beyond human control—just as no two clouds are alike, no two Jun teapots are identical.

The Form of Qin Weight: Steadfast as Ritual

Inspired by the balance weights of the Qin dynasty, the pot's body is full and rounded, its base broad and flat as a seal. Placed upon the tea mat, it sits with the stability of a mountain. Free of ornate decoration or contrived form, its simple, dignified lines convey the Eastern philosophy of "measured harmony." When lifted and poured, its weight feels substantial and warm in the hand, like holding ancient jade or a token of trust.

Shenhou Clay, Junzhou Fire

The clay is sourced from local Shenhou mineral deposits, the glaze follows a thousand-year-old formula, and the kiln is a traditional downdraft wood-burning dragon kiln. Each Qin Weight teapot—from throwing to glazing, from loading the kiln to reading the fire—is shaped by the eyes and hands of a master artisan, its transformation guided by experience and intuition. What emerges is not merely an object, but a covenant of time upheld between the land and its keepers.

Landscape on the Tea Mat, Rivers and Mountains in the Palm

Ideal for brewing fragrant teas such as Wuyi rock tea or Phoenix oolong, its thick walls retain heat effectively, while the slightly porous glaze surface allows the tea to breathe, yielding a richer, fuller liquor. Over years of companionship, the glaze will slowly develop a softer, more subdued patina through interaction with tea and air—every moment shared with it settles into its luminous surface.
