A striking geometric interpretation of Song Dynasty porcelain, this handcrafted octagonal teacup (Ba Fang Bei) unites the sculptural precision of eight-sided architecture with the quiet depth of Longquan celadon. Formed from dark, iron-rich clay (Zitai), the raw charcoal clay subtly reveals itself along the distinct faceted edges and foot ring, providing a grounded, antique frame that highlights the cup’s bold silhouette.
Thickly coated in a classic "Ge" Kiln celadon glaze, the eight flat exterior planes catch and reflect light in subtle, shifting gradients. Suspended within the jade-smooth glaze is a delicate, web-like network of dark, ink-wash crackles (Kaipian). The octagonal rim is carefully smoothed for a comfortable lip feel, while the thick stoneware body retains heat beautifully.
