Ge Kiln Emerged during the Southern Song dynasty, literally "Elder Brother Kiln"—stands among the revered Five Great Kilns of the Song era. Its identity is defined not by painted motifs, but by a crackled glaze that tells a story of time and transformation. Known as “golden threads and iron wires,” this intricate network of dark and amber fissures was historically achieved through a patient, multistep process: initial firing created the primary cracks (iron wires), which were then stained with charcoalash water; years of natural oxidation gradually formed the finer, golden secondary cracks. The result is a ceramic surface that breathes with age—a visual poetry of controlled imperfection.

This Longquan Celadon Ge Kiln Yashou Cup (Press-Hand Cup) brings Ge ware’s storied texture into a form shaped for the hand. Crafted from fine Longquan clay and fired in a reduction kiln, its body carries the soft, warm beige glaze that distinguishes classic Ge ware from its celadon counterparts. Over this serene surface, the distinctive “golden threads and iron wires” pattern unfolds—a living map of dark and amber lines that seems to deepen with every use.
