This tea cup is crafted from iron-rich clay sourced from the Longquan region of Zhejiang, an area with over 1,600 years of celadon production history. The clay body is shaped entirely by hand using traditional throwing techniques, then coated with a thick celadon glaze formulated to develop grey (dark green) coloration during firing. The glaze is applied generously, creating a substantial, almost jade-like surface that feels smooth and weighty in the hand.
The cup features a distinctive two-part surface treatment:
Upper section: Fully glazed in dark grey with a thick, glossy finish that captures light and reveals subtle variations in tone
Lower section: Unglazed, exposing the natural clay body with hand-carved wave patterns encircling the base
