Ru ware, the foremost of the Five Great Kilns of the Song Dynasty.
The crackle patterns of Ru porcelain initially formed as a glaze surface defect during high-temperature firing, known in the trade as "glaze cracking". Yet, it is precisely this flaw that transformed Ru ware into a legendary aesthetic, turning imperfection into artistry.
The crackle patterns of Ru porcelain include cicada wing, ice crack, crab claw, fish scale, network, willow leaf, and more. With the revival of Ru porcelain, artisans have seemingly mastered the principles of crackling, controlling the patterns through glaze formulation and firing temperature. However, this control is not absolute—human intervention only increases the probability of achieving desired results, not guaranteeing them.
Master Cup: Blue-green glaze, a rare celadon hue reminiscent of crystalline jadeite. Adorned with crab claw crackle patterns across its surface and crafted using the traditional pin-firing technique. With a generous 150ml capacity, it serves equally well as a master tea cup or a coffee cup.
