Taiping Houkui originates from Houkeng Village in Taiping County, Anhui Province. It is a roasted green tea known for its unique appearance, fragrance, and taste. The tea is primarily picked with two leaves and one bud, and it stands out among green teas for its exceptional ability to withstand multiple infusions.
The production process of Taiping Houkui is highly meticulous and largely done by hand. Overlong parts are trimmed, and excess leaves are removed until each set consists of exactly one bud and two leaves. Each stem is carefully shaped by hand: the bud, leaves, and stem are pressed together, straightened, flattened, and then dried.
Brewing Guide:
Teaware: Use a straight-sided glass cup.
Water Temperature: 90–100°C (194–212°F).
Amount: 5–8 tea stems. First, pour a small amount of water into the glass, then place the stems vertically with the stem end down. Slowly fill the cup along the inner wall.
Storage Tips:
Short-term (1–3 months): Store sealed at room temperature. Keep dry and avoid sunlight.
Long-term (over 3 months): Store sealed in the refrigerator at 0–5°C (32–41°F).
